Explanation Writing - Camels








How have camels adapted to their environment?
Are you aware that camels are special creatures which they adapted to their environment and can survive without 30 days of water in the desert. Did you know that camels can drink 46L in 1 session?.
Deserts are very dry and hot. There is little vegetation and almost no water. This could be the main reason why there are no trees and plants to drink enough water.The sand that covers the ground can absorb the heat and becomes extremely hot during the days. strong winds can cause quickly and is known the sand storm This is very dangerous because it can blind you.




When the sandy storm has meant over time camels have adapted by growing 2 sets of eyelashes and nostrils can close and protect during in the sand storms.Camels have thick lips to protect their mouths From the sharp thorns on the cactus plant. Cactus plants have source of hydration for these animals as they contain water.
Water is very rare in the desert. Camels get water from the cactus plant which
is why they have thick lips as this helps them to avoid sharp thorns that get
in their way. Food and water is not easy to find in desert conditions so camels
have a hump that stores fat. This fat is later used for energy and hydration
when the camel is tired and thirsty.

A desert is a hard place to survive in so over time camels have adapted to this environment.

This week for writing i have been learning about how camels can adapted to their environment. What I had to do for this activity is making a copy of the camel explanation and putting powerful words and facts into my camel explanation did you know that camels can drink up to 46L. I have enjoyed working in this DLO because it shows all about camels.

Kahoot



For writing we made a question on Kahoot that tells about explanation. First we find the group of three. I worked with Kanye and Te Pounamu. It was quite hard to make a question because we need to make a 12 question and it need to be a challenge and creative.

Pechaflikr Narratives


Toady for this week for writing we had to finish our writing dlo because it will be good to show all people about our learning at Panmure Bridge School. My partner was Joshua and we made a dlo about pechaflikr, pechaflilkr is something you make out of an story that tells someone what is the story about then we moved on to our link ideas between paragraphs what we had to do is link our comments of what the story is gonna be about so Joshua and i put our information and powerful words on to the link ideas between paragraphs then we paint a picture with words to show not tell what was happening. this was an good activity with my partner so we can do this an another time and the hard bit was trying to add more powerful words.

Leap of Faith

 This week for writing we were writing a narrative. This narrative is about taking a leap of faith. This is a first person story describing the feelings and mixed emotions this person was feeling while competing in a big event. To help improve my writing I proof read it out loud to hear for my mistakes. I added, deleted and changed sentences and words to make it more interesting

                 Equipment & respect


This year is the winter olympics 2018. There are 43 different countries that competed  in pyeongchang 2018 winter olympics.
They have to respect the equipment so they don't injury
Themselves. There are been different countries in the winter Olympics that won gold , silver , bronze. Passion means that all different countries  That comes together.

Today i made sure that my capitals and full stops are correct

Today we used the ‘2 words 1 minute’ challenge to write a description about the Winter Olympics. After talking in pairs about the things we knew about the winter Olympics we created a list of words (vocabulary) that would help us write our description. We chose the words ‘equipment’ and ‘respect’ to help us think about what we were going to write.

Let me tell you bout winter Olympics

Pyeongchang is a winter Olympics that’s held at south Korea.
People are been winning gold ,silver, bronze medals.When people win the Pyeongchang winter Olympics medals. And the mascot’s cheer for their own country and there were 92 countries that competed in the winter Olympics in South Korea . And There were lots of sports events and the New Zealand won some medals Like one silver and two bronze . Passion means that people all over world  are connected in winter Olympics in Pyeongchang 2018. And there were opening ceremony and when winter Olympics is finished and there will be a closing ceremony. And every person have to have skills to join the winter olympics and win it . The country has different uniform And equipment .




This morning  we been writing about the pyeongchang winter Olympics 2018. My partner was Jonathan and we had to write 5 minutes about winter Olympics. Soon after that we had to talk into buddy's about the winter olympics.

    How children learn at school

Children learn at school in lots of different ways.
They experience new things and copy  people to learn how to do things


They watch and learn form each others. And the teachers tech new students how to do things


Kids collaborate new ideas to show that children learn at school in lots of different ways

children practise their skills to improve learning one of the things they do to is ask questions and 
focus more. they gain knowledge from others by asking and use it to improve their skills

Children are curious to learn things. Not all the time children know what to do so, they ask questions. They learn in many different ways. learning is a big part of their lives. They watch others and copy them.

Learning to use Synonyms


Today me and my writing group learnt to use synonyms. I worked with my partner Christopher. We had to change the boring words into interesting words using synonyms. We thought of different words that mean the same thing to make our sentences more noticeable. I thought this was exciting because we had to look for the synonyms using google dictionary then make sure they made sense in the sentence.

Let me tell you about...

Let me tell you something about lunchtimes at PBS. When the bell rings I can hear people running to get their delicious tasty, juicy lunch. I can see people munching on their sandwiches. Then everyone races to the courts, people laugh and run. We play handball, the hand ball is hard when it slaps against my palm. If the rain comes people scream for no reason because they think it’s scary and like something is coming to melt the building! Then everyone comes to the class, the wet day monitors have to go to the juniors because the kids can’t look after themselves. The juniors make a lot of noise but in our class we all just go on our chromebooks or find something quiet to do.

In writing we have been learning how to proofread and give feedback / feed forward. After 10 minutes of writing we had to work in partners to make sure what we had written made sense.

The balloon popped!


We stood up and excitedly walked over to bows that were lying on the cobblestones silently waiting for us. We all picked the bows up at the same time. It was like we were in a race to see who would fire first.  
With the arrows notched onto the bowstring we placed our fingers around the knot. One finger above the knot and two fingers below. Like everyone else we lifted our bows and pulled the string towards our faces. You could hear the ting on the string as the arrow launched itself towards the target.


“Pop!” We couldn't believe our eyes. Both balloons popped at the same time we felt so proud when everybody clapped and cheered.    


Both of us had smiles on our faces as we picked up our arrows. Lucky only we know not all our arrows hit the target.


Today me and Josh wrote a recount about when the balloon popped. It's about how me and Josh stood up and walked over to bows that were lying down on the ground then put one finger above the knot and two fingers below. Like everyone else we lifted the bow only me and Josh got the balloon on the taggert at the same time!

One morning me and josh s and me went to this house and it was across the road  by the school. it was dusty and old and no one went to that house so me and josh's went to the house and i said is it good to go over there and we saw a person with a scary stick and he was standing in the house looking at us then the door was
Open then the scary man grabbed us and we were try to get out then the police came and saw us and the cops said we need back up we need back call all cops come to the house next to the school then all the cops came and said let them go then the cops shoot the scary man and he died and we said thanks for helping us police officer then everyone went to their
home.

about 2 years me,Josh and Liam went to this house And it was old and dusty. Me and liam was so scared that Something was gonna come right out into our face so we went into the house
And it was dark and no power i saw something down there i said come have look guys but we heard a noise from a toy box and i said let's get out of here but josh walked forward and all the doors was locked and i said how are we gonna get out of here. Then someone scarp the doors and suddenly we ran fast as and finally we made it out.

1.Cut the wool into a circle that is made like a ball.
2.Then you get your string and decide how long you want it.
3.The next step is to braid your string.
4.Then get your wool and scrisor and make a whole in it and but the string threw the whole our sowe it .
5.use a plastic bag and cover your wool with it and you're done.
